Pilot Testing
Objective
- Test required by FAA for medical certification of pilots and controllers with specified medical, neurologic, and psychiatric conditions (e.g., Head Injury, Alcohol Use Disorder, ADHD, HIV, etc.)
- Evaluation of pilots with performance problems
– Proficiency problems (Busted PC)
– Transition training problems (727 -> 767) - Baseline testing
– USAF Enhanced Flight Screen Program
– Airline new hires - Pilot & astronaut selection
Features and performance
- Normative data on Air Transport Pilots (n=1447; 23-80 years of age), General Aviation Pilots (n=208; 18-86 years of age), and Major Airline Pilots (n=584; 24-67 years of age)
- Norm-based comparison report to assess meaningful changes with repeat testing
- Cognitive domain-based Factor Scores
- Assesses impact of multitasking on cognitive and psychomotor performance
- Measures deductive reasoning under time pressure
- Predictive of actual and simulator-based flight performance
- Validated sensitivity to recovery of function and to aeromedically significant declines in function
